Victron Orion XS 12/12-70A DC-DC Battery Charger

The Victron Orion XS 12/12-70A takes the compact Orion XS platform to a higher output, delivering up to 70A of intelligent DC-DC charging from a 12V vehicle electrical system.

Remarkably, the 70A model retains the same compact physical footprint as the Orion XS 12/12-50A. To achieve the additional output within the same enclosure size, Victron has added active fan cooling to the rear of the unit, allowing it to maintain significantly higher charging performance without requiring a larger charger.

The trade-off for the active cooling design is an IP20 protection rating, compared with the IP65/IP67-style environmental protection associated with some sealed Victron equipment. The Orion XS 70A should therefore be installed in a dry, protected and adequately ventilated location.

Installation Considerations

Unlike the sealed 50A Orion XS, the 12/12-70A is rated IP20 due to its active cooling system. It should be mounted away from water, dust and other contaminants, with sufficient clearance around the cooling fans for unrestricted airflow.

This makes it particularly well suited to internal electrical compartments, canopies, motorhomes, caravans, boats and other protected equipment spaces where high alternator charging performance is required.
